Volcán de fuego

The Volcano having one of its frequent eruptions at night
Guatemala is home to the most active volcanoes in the world! There are currently 37 active volcanoes, and one of the most famous is the Volcán de Fuego. It has been active since about 2002, and shoots lava almost every 15 minutes, which makes it the most active volcano in Central America. At one point in April of 2023, it was erupting 14 times in an hour! This volcano is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Guatemala. The temperatures on Volcán de Fuego vary; there are temperatures in the high sixties and low seventies during the day, but there are often temperatures below freezing at night. Even though it is a spectacle like no other, the Volcán de Fuego has led to many deaths over the years, due to its numerous frequent eruptions. Hiking up the volcano is allowed, but it is very challenging terrain and is only recommended to experts due to the activeness of the volcano. Volcán de Fuego is a geographical feature that attracts lots of tourists to Guatemala.
