Here is a photo of the famed ruins

Guatemala is home to thousands of Mayan ruins, including Tikal National Park, which is hidden and known for being the home to many Mayan ruins. The park was once a huge city home to the Maya with over 3,000 buildings in its center alone. It is also about 575 square kilometers of land. It was abandoned by the Maya by the end of the ninth century due to a huge migration to the Yucatan Peninsula, though the reason for this migration is still a mystery today. The city was overrun by the jungle and hidden for hundreds of years until a Guatemalan expedition found the ruins of the city in 1848. Now, people come from all over the world to view the architectural wonders of this ancient Mayan city. It is also home to lots of wildlife. There are many howler monkeys, keel-billed toucans, and panthers. Tikal National Park has helped the history and culture of the Maya live on today.
